My tasks at the ZKfN:
As Communications and Public Relations Officer, my role is to make the Center for Climate Research Lower Saxony (ZKfN) and its Climate Future Labs visible. I highlight how the funded research networks in Lower Saxony work on climate-related issues and how they connect with one another, while facilitating exchange between science, politics, and the public. I present complex topics in a way that is accessible and engaging for people outside academia – for example, through blog articles, social media posts, or press releases.
How I came to the ZKfN:
I have been working in communications for almost twenty years, including at the Federal Academy for Cultural Education and most recently at the Student Services Organization of Eastern Lower Saxony. In recent years, I’ve become increasingly interested in environmental and nature conservation issues and have pursued further training in this field. In 2024, I also began a part-time degree in Environmental Science. The position at the ZKfN is the perfect opportunity to combine my communications experience with my passion for climate and environmental topics – and to work closely with the people and projects driving a sustainable future in Lower Saxony.
My climate resolutions:
There are so many people who dedicate themselves every day to building a better future – I hope they become the new role models of our time. I also hope that, as a society, we reach a tipping point: the moment when climate action is no longer seen as a burden or an ideological issue, but as a core part of responsible living. I wish for us to value the diversity of nature – not merely as a resource, but as the foundation of our lives – and to recognize that our actions are part of this larger whole.
