Drought, floods and other (natural) disasters - the aim of the planned video game "Klimaheroes 2080" is to prevent such future scenarios. In the game, players travel back in time to the year 2023 to set the course for a good climate future. The funding organisation nordmedia has approved start-up funding of €20,000 for the further development of this game idea. The funding will enable the project team to develop initial prototypes and storyboards and to acquire further funding.
The climate video game is intended to convey knowledge about climate issues in an entertaining way and show options for action in various climate change scenarios. "Our aim is to approach the topic of climate change with a little more ease and thus regain the ability to act," says Dr Nora Roesky from the Centre for Climate Research Lower Saxony, which is providing scientific support for the project.
About the climate game
The climate video game is being developed by the software developer Wattweiser, the video game developer Quantumfrog in collaboration with the Bildungswerk der Niedersächsischen Wirtschaft gemeinnützige GmbH, the Centre for Climate Research Lower Saxony and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture.
